   Hysteroscopy has revolutionized the field of Gynecology and has now become a standard in the armamentarium of gynecologic surgeons. Cost, convenience, accuracy, and patient comfort are all factors in which hysteroscopy excel as compared to traditional surgeries. As gynecologists have grown acquainted with the techniques of operative hysteroscopy, it has become the method of choice for treatment of many intrauterine pathology.
  The acceptance of hysteroscopy have come about only through a long and difficult struggle. Modern hysteroscopy represents a technological triumph that has built on the trail-and-error research of many doctors and scientists. Besides the complications associated with the "learning curve," hysteroscopy is generally a low risk technique that uses the body's natural orifice to gain entry into the uterine cavity.
  In this presentation, we briefly review the history of complications associated with operative hysteroscopy, the types of complications, the incidence of complications, and what to do to prevent or treat the surgical complications.
