Cytomegalovirus (CMV) associated anterior segment infection is a new disease entity in immunocompetent patients. CMV has been detected in several diseases mimicking Posner-Schlossman syndrome and glaucoma post transplant. One of important clinical presentation is elevation of intraocular pressure (IOP), though the mechanism of IOP elevation remains unclear. In this talk, I will introduce the possible pathogenesis of IOP elevation in cytomegalovirus infection using in vitro and in vivo models. The clinical outcome of IOP control in CMV-infected patients treated with ganciclovir will be also shared. |
