Myopia is highly prevalent among schoolchildren in East Asia and Singapore; The prevalence of myopia in Taiwanese schoolchildren is among the highest worldwide. Myopia, especially high myopia, may cause inconvenience in daily life and ocular complications which may lead to permanent visual impairment. Treatment of myopia is an important public health issue in Taiwan.
In this talk, we would like to introduce latest treatment options for childhood myopia, including pharmacological treatment, such as Atropine; and optical modalities such as orthokeratology, myopic defocus spectacles and multifocal soft contact lenses. Latest experimental treatments will be also included. |
